Voyagers can specialise in your safari wish list – we’ll delve deeper to ensure your safari experiences are exceptional. We only partner with tried-and-tested camps and lodges to bring you the safari of a lifetime!

The choice of luxury camps in Zambia’s national parks is quite small but of such a high standard that it goes without saying – any of the lodges will fulfil your safari dream.

A combination of South and North Luangwa, Lower Zambezi and Livingstone is the perfect safari, combining amazing game viewing with one of the Seven Wonders of the World – the Victoria Falls.

We have chosen a few of the most luxurious camps and lodges to share with you – although the choice is not limited to these camps.

SOUTH LUANGWA NATIONAL PARK

Chinzombo Camp

Named after a type of tree which grows near camp, Time + Tide Chinzombo is on the banks of the Luangwa River and blends modern style with the best of a traditional bush safari camp. Chinzombo has six spacious luxury safari tents, including a two-bedroom, two-bathroom family tent. Each luxury safari tent has a private pool and bath tub with panoramic views over the Luangwa River and its abundant wildlife. This lodge boasts some incredible activities including lounging on the riverfront sun deck with a book from the open-air library, enjoying dinner under the stars and unwinding with an in-room spa treatment.

Chindeni Bushcamp – part of the Bushcamp Company

Chindeni Bushcamp is located in the remote, southern part of the South Luangwa National Park. A tranquil, tented camp on the edge of an ox-bow lagoon, the Chindeni Hills provide an amazing backdrop for life in camp, whether relaxing on the deck with a G&T or exploring on a walking safari. This is refined luxury in the true wild. Chindeni’s accommodation consists of four guest chalets (each sleeping two people).

Shawa Luangwa Camp – part of Green Safari – the first Green and silent lodge in Zambia

The partnership with legendary guide, Jacob Shawa, not only inspired the name of Shawa Luangwa Camp; it created the foundation for Green Safaris to bring Silent Safaris to the South Luangwa. The spot where Shawa Luangwa sits overlooking the Luangwa River was handpicked by Jacob and is one of the park’s most untouched areas. Voted one of Wanderlust’s top 8 best professional guides and one of the finest people you will meet, Jacob is at the heart of Shawa Luangwa’s story. Shawa proudly offers the very first silent safaris in Zambia's South Luangwa National Park using solar-powered electric vehicles or e-Cruisers. Each of their Luxury Safari Tents is individually styled for a modern under canvas experience on the banks of the Luangwa River. Two of the five Couples Tents can convert into a spacious Family Tent.

Lion Camp – in an area far from the beaten track

Lion Camp is an intimately private lodge, offering 10 individual thatch and canvas suites with unobtrusive views. Situated in the most northern reaches of the South Luangwa National Park in Zambia, a truly authentic safari experience awaits you in one of the most exclusive, remote and abundant game-viewing areas of Africa. Lion Camp offers guided walking safaris or game drives – with no more than four guests per activity – lead by well-trained, enthusiastic guides. If you are interested in birds, wildlife or spectacular landscapes, Lion Camp is a photographer’s dream.

NORTH LUANGWA NATIONAL PARK

A combination of The Remote Africa Safaris camps with emphasis on walking from camp to camp – a choice of Tafika Camp, Chikoko Trails Camps, Mwaleshi Camp, Takwela Camp and the amazing Shoebill Island Camp.

Tafika Camp

Tafika Camp’s location on the east bank of the Luangwa River, north of the Nsefu Sector of the South Park, makes it ideal for those who enjoy the serenity of the bush with just six chalets. Here, exceptional game viewing is combined with exciting activities including daily day and night drives, mountain bike safaris, walking safaris, visits to the local Mkasanga Village and microlighting in May (only offered in May). Tafika also has two hides which offer the opportunity of game viewing in-between activities. Hides overlook the camp waterhole which is frequented by herds of elephant, bushbuck, puku, impala, mongoose and several bird species.

Chikoko Trails Camps

Chikoko Trails incorporates two small and exclusive bush camps, Chikoko Tree Camp and Big Lagoon (previously known as Crocodile River Camp). In 2022 Crocodile River Camp was relocated to the historic Big Lagoon site, overlooking an extensive lagoon from the surrounding ebony forest. Located on the west bank in the South Luangwa National Park, a few kilometres upstream from parent camp Tafika, Chikoko and Big Lagoon are only accessible on foot and offer unparalleled walking safaris – being immersed in the idyll of remotest Africa. Accommodation at Chikoko includes three chalets at each camp.

Acommodation at Mwaleshi includes four chalets (two twin and two king).

Accommodation at Takwela Camp include four chalets (three twin doubles and one king).
