Victoria Falls Livingstone

How to Sell Zambia: Livingstone

About Livingstone

Livingstone was named after Dr. David Livingstone, the Scottish explorer that discovered the Victoria Falls. It is now the tourism centre for the Victoria Falls, one of the seven natural wonders of the world. The town is relatively small with Victoria Falls town just on the other side of the Falls in Zimbabwe. Livingstone is home to many fun and adventurous activities as well as some walking tours and markets around the city.

What is Livingstone best for?

Livingstone is the perfect spot in two different situations:

  • Clients that have a lot of travel logistics to get into Zambia and want to relax for 2-3 days before going on safari.
  • Clients that want a 2-3 day break at the end of a 10 day safari to unwind.

Identify the type of client that wants to visit Livingstone:

  • Action and adventure clients
  • Peace and quiet clients

Suggestions for these types of clients:

  • Action and adventure clients: start their safari trip with Livingstone for 2-3 nights at a venue near Victoria Falls so that they can do all the activities such as bungee jumping, white water rafting and swimming at Devil’s Pool.
  • Peace and quiet clients: end their safari trip with Livingstone for 2-3 nights at a venue away from Victoria Falls so that they can relax and not be stuck in the hustle and bustle of all the activities.

Travelling to or from Livingstone:

There are both driving and flying options when combining Livingstone with the rest of Zambia. However, we would only suggest driving if it’s from Livingstone to south of the Kafue National Park or vice versa, since the drive isn’t too long. If your clients are travelling anywhere else in Zambia, we would suggest that they fly in order to not waste a lot of their trip by driving.

When is the best time of year to visit Livingstone?

The best time to visit Livingstone in terms of the weather as well as seeing the Victoria Falls would be between January and April when Zambia is at the peak of its rainy season.
